NEW PROJECT

LIFE Chemicals Ambassadors for Europe

  • We generally associate hazardous chemicals with heavy industry and polluted hotspots in the vicinity of chemical plants. However, we encounter many hazardous chemicals even in our homes. This is because cleaning products, cosmetics, and consumer products are responsible for countless pollutants in our own households. From the products, the chemicals make their way into our bodies and the environment, where they sometimes cause irreversible damage. An EU-funded project is now tackling this issue.

NEW PROJECT

ChemClimCircle chemicals, climate and circularity

European municipalities procure services and goods on a large scale, as they are responsible for various public facilities in the fields of child and elderly care, construction, education, or traffic. For this reason, they have great potential to use the procurement process to achieve environmental goals. Green Public Procurement (GPP) can stimulate demand for more sustainable services and goods, thus promoting a regenerative circular economy and helping to support a toxic-free environment.

It all starts with awareness

We are all exposed to a variety of hazardous substances through everyday consumer goods. These are mainly man-made chemical substances whose specific properties make it difficult to predict the effects of long-term exposure on our health and the environment. Due to their widespread use, hazardous substances cannot, of course, be completely avoided, but each of us can do something to protect the environment and the health of ourselves and our loved ones. On this website you will find information about hazardous substances and tips on how to avoid them. Take care of yourself – think before you buy!

Plastics and the hidden threat to your health

Plastic is pervasive in our lives. Food packaging, clothing, furnishings etc. are made of plastic. However, plastic can contain numerous toxic and hormonally active chemicals. We take in these hazardous substances through respiration, skin contact and the food chain and thereby endanger our health. In order to save our health, we need to reduce our use of plastics!
